Whose rights we act for
9N COPYRIGHT MEDIA PRIVATE LIMITED owns, or is exclusively licensed or authorised to administer, the rights in the sound recordings it releases and represents. We send copyright notices only for recordings in that catalogue.
When we send a notice
We send a notice when one of our recordings is uploaded, streamed or otherwise made available without a licence. Notices go to the platform or service hosting the material, or to the person responsible for it.
Depending on where the material is hosted, notices are made under the Copyright Act, 1957 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 (India), under 17 U.S.C. § 512 (the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act), or under the platform's own copyright procedure.
What our notices contain
- the recording concerned;
- the address or location of the material we believe infringes it;
- our contact details;
- a statement that we believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the rights owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that we are authorised to act for the rights owner;
- the signature of an authorised representative of the company.
Checking that a notice is genuine
We send notices only from email addresses ending in @9ncopyrightmedia.com, or through a platform's own copyright reporting system. We never ask for payment to a personal account, through a messaging app, or in cryptocurrency.
If you are not sure a notice came from us, forward it to the address below and we will confirm.
Disputing a notice
Disputes are handled through the platform that received our notice. You can file a counter-notification with the platform through its own procedure. For platforms subject to US law, this is set out in 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). A counter-notification is a legal statement, so consider taking advice before filing one.
Reporting unauthorised use of our recordings
If you find one of our recordings used without permission, send us the link.
